Multiple agencies search for missing swimmer in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Panama City Beach police, the Bay County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard are searching for a missing swimmer near Sandpiper Beacon Beach Resort.

Police say William Collinsworth, 20, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana and a friend went into the gulf around 6:00 p.m. and began to have trouble in rough surf conditions.

They say Collinsworth's friend made it to shore but Collinsworth did not.

He's described as a white male with a fair complexion, long, curly brown hair, and a thin build. He was last seen wearing black swim shorts.

Double red flags were flying at the time.
