WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - South Walton is getting new public beach access.
The new beach access will be located between Eastern Lake and Deer Lake. (WJHG/WECP)
A special meeting was called Tuesday to discuss plans with the Tourist Development Council on building the new Walton Dunes Regional Beach Access.
The access point will be located between Eastern Lake and Deer Lake.
The plan includes parking for golf carts, in addition to more handicap parking.
Walton County continues to grow, and in light of the customary land use lawsuits, this is important, according to Beach Operations Director Brian Kellenberger.
"Walton County has spent an incredible amount of money on purchasing gulf-front property to convert, to develop into public beach access so we certainly should consider property we own," said Kellenberger.
Kellenberger says construction of the beach access will cost between $800,000 and $1 million.
