Bay District Schools has chosen a subcontractor to clear the property the school will be built on. In total, the clearing project should cost about $1.5 million.

They also discussed a joint-use agreement between the district and the Tourist Development Council for the school's parking lot to be shared with the sports complex.

"It makes sense for the school district, it makes sense for the TDC. We're going to have a nice parking lot there for our school. Basically, we're going to need it throughout the day, Monday through Friday, if the TDC, the Sports Complex, is having a big event on Friday night, Saturday night, week night, there's no reason that they shouldn't use our parking area," said Lee Walters, the director of facilities for Bay District Schools.

They say they hope to break ground within the next couple of months.
