OCSO: Student chokes student resource officer

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Sheriff's deputies took a Ruckel Middle School student into protective custody after he allegedly attacked and choked his School Resource Officer (SRO) around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials said the 14-year-old exceptional education student reportedly got angry in the cafeteria before running out of the school in Niceville.

Reports indicate the SRO followed him into the bush across the street where he attacked her and put her in a chokehold to where she couldn't breathe.

The SRO used her Taser and detained him.

The student was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for mental evaluation while the SRO is receiving medical treatment.
