During a special meeting today, Tony O'Rourke was chosen as the new city manager. City council members says O'Rourke stood out because of his experience with tourism, strategic planning and budgetary expertise.

City leaders also said O'Rourke's care for fellow employees helped in their decision.

O'Rourke has served as city administrator and city manager for several cities across the country.

He said it's an honor to be selected and will make a decision as to whether to accept the job after talking with his family.

"I'm inspired by the challenges and opportunities. I love tourist-based communities. Florida is great, I spent 10 years of my life here so those are all pluses,” said O’Rourke.

City leaders say negotiations with O’Rourke are underway. They say they hope to come to an agreement by tomorrow. If they can't, they say they'll start negotiations with their second choice Roy Coley.
