October is Pet Wellness Month. Eric Post with Pet Supermarket joined us in studio with tips for keeping pets happy and healthy.

One piece of advice for maintaining the health of your cat or dog is keeping up with dental care.

Daily brushing is best, but it’s not always possible. Most dogs accept brushing, but cats can be a bit more resistant. Just stay patient. Pet Supermarket has treats, brushes, and other products that can help.

The general condition of your cat or dog's skin and coat are good indicators of their overall health. A healthy coat should be shiny and smooth, not brittle or coarse, and healthy skin should be supple and clear, not greasy, flaky, or bumpy.

In order to keep skin and hair in a healthy state, pets require a properly balanced diet that contains high quality digestible proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals and vitamins, as well as the appropriate number of calories to meet energy needs. Regular grooming is also a great way to maintain a healthy coat for both cats and dogs.
