OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has a couple of accomplishments to be proud of.
The Florida Association of School Resource Officers has named the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office SRO Program as the best in the state. Also, Deputy Cullen Coraine has been named SRO of the Year.
Coraine is the SRO at Liza Jackson Preparatory School. They say he was chosen for his combination of tactical know-how, dedication to improved school safety enhancements, and incredible rapport with his students, teachers, and parents. They say this award also recognizes his contributions to helping both homeless people and homeless animals.
This is the second time in five years the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office SRO Program has been named in the top of the state. This is the third SRO who has been named Florida SRO of the Year from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since 2012.
