Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials investigating apparent drowning

A tourist is dead after apparently drowning in the Gulf of Mexico in Destin Friday afternoon. (MGN)

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has identified the man as 36-year-old Carlos Wuberto Rodriguez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's Officials are investigating after a tourist apparently drowned in the Gulf.

They say the 38-year-old man was seen struggling in the water off Shore Drive at around 2 p.m. Friday. The person was later pulled unconscious from the water and died.

Deputies say bystanders tried to pull him from the water when they saw him struggling but were unable to.

The identity of the man has not yet been released.
