Okaloosa County to open shelter in preparation of Tropical Storm Nate

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Okaloosa County officials announced Friday the county will open a shelter Saturday morning in preparation of Tropical Nate.

The county, in conjunction with the Okaloosa County Department of Health, will open a shelter at Davidson Middle School in Crestview at 8 a.m. Saturday.

The National Hurricane Center issued a Hurricane Watch for Okaloosa County, which indicates the possibility of hurricane strength wind conditions.

The Public Safety Department said it is anticipating sustained winds of 20 to 25 miles per hour during peak activity hours.

As of now, Okaloosa County beach flags are currently at red status.

The county does not expect to close any roads over the weekend.
