The First Baptist Church of Campbellton, Florida celebrated 192 years of service Sunday morning.

Established in 1825, it's also the oldest Baptist church in Florida.

"It's been around a long time, got a lot of history," First Baptist of Campbellton Pastor Pumphrey said.

To celebrate the anniversary, the service started with a morning worship and special entertainment by the Thomley brothers. Then, members of the congregation enjoyed a dish dinner. Many of those who attended traveled from other states to be a part of the anniversary service.

"I got married here in June the 17th of 1972 and my children were born here... we moved to Atlanta when my son was six-weeks-old, I have a daughter, she was born here, they came here," Atlanta resident Cynthia Hicks said.

While the church may be small, Pastor Pumphrey says it's full of history.

"Our sanctuary was built before Abraham Lincoln was president... Which means we were having church in this sanctuary in the days before slavery was abolished. There was a period in history of the church where Indians were unsettled and had to have guards outside the doors, to protect the people inside while they worshiped," Pastor Pumphrey said.

He continues to say he's thankful for the tight-knit community.

"It gives you a larger family and makes you understand part of what Jesus talked about when he said, you know, these are my mother and brother when he talked about the congregation he was serving at the time," Pastor Pumphrey said.

He's not the only one who feels like family.

"The people are still friendly, and it still feels like home," Hicks said.
