One dead in Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One person is dead, another is in custody regarding a shooting Monday night.

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to 3810 East 8th Street about 10:45 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

When police arrived, they found the female victim inside. That woman, whose name hasn't been released, was pronounced dead by emergency workers less than 10 minutes later.

They also found Eugearian Eugene Sharp, 37, who lives in the home. Sharp was taken into custody after he talked about his involvement. He was taken to the police department where he voluntarily admitted to killing his girlfriend during a fight.

Sharp is being charged with an open count of murder as well as a felon for possessing a firearm. He was booked into the Bay County Jail, pending first appearance before a judge.
