One injured, suspect in custody after DeFuniak Springs shooting

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - One person is hurt and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in DeFuniak Springs Sunday morning.

Walton County Sheriff's officials say Jimi McDonald, 46, broke into a home on Mims Road just before 10 Sunday morning and shot a woman in the arm then took off.

They say McDonald's truck tire blew out so he ditched it off Punch Bowl Road.

They say a deputy then spotted McDonald walking down the road and tried to stop him but he took off into the woods.

A K-9 team tracked McDonald down and he was arrested.

He's charged with six counts of aggravated assault, one count of attempted murder, armed burglary, and three counts of simple battery.
