PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Locals came together Saturday to participate in Operation Clean Sweep, an event organized to help clean up the historic St. Andrews area.
The event was organized by the City of Panama City and organizations in St. Andrews to get the area looking back to normal. Volunteers arrived between 8:00 A.M and 9:00 A.M. to be assigned to specific areas to clean.
More than 100 volunteers showed up to help out before 8:30 A.M. Volunteers were given trash bags, orange vests, and trash grabbers and could be seen all over the area. The first 100 volunteers were given a free St. Andrews' Team Salty t-shirt.
Operation Clean Sweep has taken place in multiple parts of the city already with more dates to be determined.
