PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Many say the streets of Panama City Beach are getting busier, and Panama City Beach leaders are getting ready to expand a new road to help improve traffic flow in the area.

The existing part of Bay Parkway, which many people refer to as "Back" Back Beach Road, was just the first phase of the project. Panama City Beach City Manager Mario Gisbert says the second phase will extend Bay Parkway to Nautilus Street.

Gisbert said they will finalize their designs this summer and begin construct on Phase 2 of the project in the fall. He says it will also be a limited access road.

"Providing a limited access road means every half-mile before you have to interact with something else or mile was something else. It’s going to allow that road to function more efficiently as a throughway as opposed to a business way," said Gisbert.

Gisbert said after they create the two-lane limited access road they believe the state will add on to make it a four-lane roadway
