Gisbert said he'll step down in March, and that he will remain the city manager until then or until they find his replacement. If the city does find someone to take over before March, Gisbert will stay on as a city employee.
In the meantime, he'll keep his salary and benefits, help train the incoming city manager and continue to help with projects.
"I think it's a good opportunity for me to do something new, said Gisbert. "More importantly, this is an absolutely wonderful city. I'm so proud of this city. I'm so proud of the employees what they do."
The council voted to approve Gisbert's retirement agreement. City officials thanked Gisbert for his nearly 10 years of service.
