Kids and their families jumped into the fun and got their faces painted, rode parade floats and enjoyed other activities. Some locals say the festival is a way to enjoy the beach and to party New Orleans style.
"People want to come here. It's beautiful, the weather is nice. A little chilly but it's ok we're gonna have a good time,” said Panama City Beach resident Del Mcrea.
Lacee Rudd with Visit Panama City Beach said Saturday, the second day of the two-day event will feature several live bands and another parade.
"The parade crosses on Front Beach Road, you can literally sit on the beach watch the parade and watch the fireworks. You're in a great destination and also we provide so much fun,” said Rudd.
Some say the event also brings the community closer together.
"They should take away the family, the brotherhood, the fellowship because Panama City and Panama City Beach have been through so much with the Hurricane over the year. It's nice to come back together and have a good time and enjoy life together,” said Mcrea.
People also enjoyed fireworks. Another fireworks show is planned for Saturday.
Rudd said Saturday they'll have a 5-K run, more live music, and their main parade. For more information about Saturday's activities click here.
