Panama City Beach city leaders want to make improvements to Back Beach Road soon
Panama City Beach city leaders are looking to make improvements along Back Beach Road before the roadway is widened to a six- lane highway.
During tonight's city council meeting, Panama City Beach officials presented council members with designs and ideas to improve areas along the roadway with frequent traffic problems.
City officials say they plan to ask the FDOT to make the improvements before widening Panama City Beach Parkway.
"Right now, We're on schedule for the DOT project, we're about 4 years out with the widening on 98. That's a little far to worry about the safety concerns that we have right now with turnoffs that are unsafe. So we're trying to get those done in the next year,” said Panama City Beach Councilman Hector Solis.
Officials say they're also making plans to improve the median between Publix and Home Depot on the intersection between Back Beach Road and Richard Jackson.
