This Labor Day Weekend will be a busy weekend for Panama City Beach.
"There will be be more than the normal about of people here on the beach. With that there is additional traffic so please abide by all the traffic laws," said City Manager Mario Gisbert.
City leaders are warning people to drive with extra caution this weekend. Gisbert said drivers should be patient, watch out for pedestrians, don't drink and drive, and don't drive while you're distracted.
"Don't use your cellphone while you're driving in any way, shape, fashion, or form so that you don't he someone from behind or the side because you're drifting," said Gisbert.
Gisbert said they're also monitoring Hurricane Dorian and potential weather conditions in our area and believe others should do the same.
"Our seas should be okay based on the fact that it coming from that side [east] It should actually blow the waves down," said Gisbert. "However, it does not mean that there won't be [rip] currents. Just because you don't see waves doesn't mean there won't be currents."
Gisbert said people should learn and obey the beach flag system. He said you should also keep an eye on your family members and belongings while you're at the beach and traveling around the city.
