Governor DeSantis has announced new rules to get short term rentals back open, and Panama City Beach is already working to comply.

In order to get the rentals back open, a safety plan must be presented to the governor, which will be approved or denied on a case by case basis. PCB mayor Mark Sheldon wrote a letter to the governor last week asking him to open rental properties, and believes that DeSantis is listening.

"Opening short term vacation rentals is obviously something we have been very passionate about here on Panama City Beach," Sheldon said. "...So hopefully we're moving forward. I think the governor heard our voice."

The safety plan is being written in conjunction with Bay County and the PCB Tourist Development Council.
