PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Big things are in the works for Panama City.

The long-term recovery plan was presented and approved at Tuesday's Panama City Commission meeting. (WJHG/WECP)

At Tuesday's Panama City Commission meeting, the board approved the long-term recovery plan.

The presentation included plans for Downtown Panama City, the marina, and various other things.

City officials say this came directly from what they have heard the public ask for in the last few months.

Mark McQueen, City Manager of Panama City, said, "What I think we're going to see is movement forward on how we're going to rebuild our city. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail, and so now that we have our plan, we're going to start moving forward on that, and so it has actual tasks in each one of those plans that we can get after, and we intend to do that immediately."

McQueen says he expects this project to take anywhere from three to five years to complete.
