As part of the city's life cycle replacement plan, they will do away with 16 of the police department's current cars.

The move was made official at Tuesday's commission meeting.

The cars had mechanical issues that couldn't be repaired. Now, a new and up-to-date fleet of cars is expected to arrive sometime in the spring.
