Panama City gets grants for unique events

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Destination Panama City has been awarded grant money for two unique events.

According to Destination Panama City representatives, the marketing organization for Panama City was awarded a $2,500 advertising matching grant for the One Harrison Food + Wine Festival. The event will be November 2-3. The event includes live music, food, wine, craft beers, cocktails, chef demos, art, and retail.

Destination Panama City was also awarded a $5,000 cultural, heritage, rural, and nature marketing grant to promote the Panama City Oyster Trail. The Oyster Trail was launched last year to connect visitors to oyster purveyors, raw bars and restaurants, and to celebrate and support the watermen who harvest wild oysters.

“These grants will help our mission to tell the story of our culture within our historic districts throughout the city and positively impact the local economy by increasing tourism-related spending within the community,” Jennifer Vigil, Destination Panama City President and CEO, said. “We’re happy that Visit Florida has chosen to support the exciting experiences that Panama City has to offer.”
