A Panama City native is helping fight the coronavirus COVID-19 on the front lines in Dallas.

According to the Navy, Navy Hospitalman Kevin German is serving in Dallas as part of the Department of Defense's response to the virus. German serves as a hospital corpsman is responsible for helping providers do anything involving patient care.

Navy officials say German is part of a unit that has 8,000 members from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force. German has been in the Navy for a year and the DoD's response to COVID-19 is his first mission.

“We get sent overseas a lot and we go on ships, but to actually be here in America and make a difference, that’s probably the best feeling you can have,” said German.
