Panama City to receive million dollar grant for hurricane recovery
A million dollars for Hurricane Michael relief is coming to Panama City.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management has allocated a million dollar grant through its Hurricane Michael Recovery Grant Program to the city.
The money will help offset a $10 million shortfall to the utilities fund.
While 75 percent of the money will go to the city's utilities fund, 25 percent will go to its solid waste fund.
City manager Mark McQueen said the shortfall is a result of lost revenue from the lack of residential and commercial properties following the storm.
