PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Back to school supplies can be expensive. One local church is helping ease that financial burden.

Wednesday morning, members of Gulf Beach Baptist Church hosted a "back-to-school" pancake breakfast at Arnold High School.
After breakfast, church members distributed more than 100 backpacks and school supplies they collected over the past couple months.

"The reason it will help them is because if they do not have those materials, then they cannot function properly in the classroom," said Dr. Gregory George the senior pastor at Gulf Beach Baptist. "This supplies them with everything they need in order to benefit from the maximum amount of the education experience."

After this morning's pancake breakfast, the backpacks were distributed equally among the beach schools.
