Many roads around the school were flooded after heavy rainfall and staff wanted to ensure the children were safe. The school's drainage system was the main problem but Bay District Schools sent out a maintenance crew to fix the issue.
Principal Christopher Coan described the scene saying, "At one point in time we probably had two and a half three feet of standing water in our parking lot, so they were alleviating that and alleviating a lot of the storm drains, because a lot of the storm drains on our campus were full which was really causing a lot of the water issues. The water just didn't have anywhere to go."
