WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Washington County leaders are moving forward with plans for the Highway 79 Corridor Project.
The project aims to bring development into the Highway 79 area from I-10 to Douglas Ferry Road.
The city of Bonifay, as well as Holmes and Washington counties, have worked together on the project.
Right now leaders are working on the interlocal agreement that would allow for a construction manager to be hired.
"We're looking forward to having developers start to look at the site and make determinations about whether they want to come to this site and set up shop or not," Washington County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett said.
Water and sewage lines should start going in within the next year.
Officials say this project should produce more than 200 jobs over the next ten years.
