President Trump says Tyndall Air Force Base will be rebuilt

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - President Donald Trump is pledging to rebuild Tyndall Air Force Base.

The president arrived in Air Force 1 Wednesday afternoon before taking a tour of the damage on base. He was joined by Governor Ron DeSantis, mayors from Panama City and Mexico Beach, as well as Bay County Commissioners.

Standing outside a damaged aircraft hangar, President Trump promised the base would be rebuilt and would be better than before.

"He got to see every building and what was destroyed, some of the temporary repairs, some of the permanent repairs," Philip "Griff" Griffitts, Bay County Commission Chairman, said. "The true nature of Tyndall, what it's truly critical to the defense of the nation."

"We know that if they're going to rebuild Tyndall, they have to rebuild Mexico Beach," Panama City Mayor Greg Brudnicki said. "They have to rebuild Panama City and all the rest of the municipalities around it because we support Tyndall."
