Recovery Task Force sets agenda for economic growth post-hurricane

BAY COUNTY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - The Recovery Task Force is focused on finding funding for recovery and economic growth post-Hurricane Michael.

The task force, made up of members from Bay County and the surrounding municipalities, heard from the Integrity Group, a firm out of Tallahassee, that has been hired to assist the community with a long-term recovery plan.

At a meeting Thursday morning, they discussed breaking into six branches to focus on. Some of the areas include housing, infrastructure, and health and social services.

"We have to get back to not only where we were, but above and beyond that. So, they are going to help us pave that road and the main thing is funding," Bay County Commissioner, Robert Carroll said.

The integrity group will help the community apply for federal grants beyond FEMA and tap into the private sector. Meetings for the six areas of focus will start to take place in the coming weeks, and the public will be welcomed to attend.
