Construction coming to Thomas Drive
Relief is on the way for those who commute on Thomas Drive.
Construction, set to begin Monday, Jan. 13, includes resurfacing the road, improving the drainage system, and adding new crosswalks.
It will take place between Bristol Street and Joan Avenue.
The cost of the project is just over $8 million and is being paid for by the half-cent surtax.
Bay County Commissioner Philip “Griff” Griffitts says this project was a long time coming.
"I've been in office a little over three years and this has been a priority for us since I got in, and like I said with the storm it set us back, but we're finally where we can start work on it. This has been long overdue, we needed this done years ago," said Griffitts.
During work hours, Thomas Drive could be reduced to one lane in each direction. The work is expected to be completed this summer.
