BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Just one day after opening all your gifts under the Christmas tree, many people are out shopping to make sure they get exactly what they wanted.
December 26th is another shopping day many retailers look forward to.
"It'll be a really good day for us, especially for a Tuesday. Not anything like what we we've seen through the holiday season, but it will definitely be busier than our average Tuesday," JCPenney General Manager at the Panama City Mall, Jody McKnight said.
"As you see the traffic isn't too bad. It's good," Yohan Kidane at the Cool Shades kiosk added. "I'm hoping and expecting a little bit more sales."
Whether your shirt was a little too big or your gift wasn't quite what you wanted, shoppers are now out and about to get exactly what they were looking for.
"I had some returns for things that didn't fit, but I also wanted to take advantage of the sales," said Rhonda Lewis.
"We're just waiting on some family, hanging out and gonna get a bite to eat and I just had to return a few things to make sure they fit right," Louis Grahl said while shopping with his son.
And retailers know that when you come in for that exchange or return, chances are you'll also find something else you want.
"Definitely spending more money. A lot of folks coming out to use those gift cards. Maybe there is something on their list that they hadn't gotten anything for yet, maybe they hadn't seen. We see a lot more of that, but then of course it is the day for returns and exchanges too," McKnight said.
Even though the holiday is over, the spirit is still alive.
"I see that the Christmas spirit, the 'Merry Christmas,' which I like so much, those people that say ,'Merry Christmas' and you can see the people are very happy and energetic, I can say that. The mall has picked up quite a bit since I got here this [Tuesday] morning," Kidane said.
If you are looking to return or exchange a gift, retailers say it's always easier if you can have the receipt with you.
