School Districts offer free meals for students

While students are out of school because of the COVID-19 outbreak, many area school districts are providing free meals.

For Bay District Schools, starting March 23, to-go meals will be provided to all school-aged children regardless of their school enrollment. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All schools will have a designated area to pick up meals at the student drop off area.

Here are the school sites:

1. Crawford Mosley High

2. Lynn Haven Elementary

3. Southport Elementary

4. Cedar Grove Elementary

5. Jinks Middle

6. Lucille Moore Elementary

7. Northside Elementary

8. Breakfast Point Academy

9. Hutchison Beach Elementary

10. Patronis Elementary

11. Rutherford High

12. Parker Elementary

13. Tyndall Elementary

14. Tommy Smith Elementary

16. Waller Elementary

In Gulf County, the school feeding program will also begin March 23. Meals will be ready at both elementary schools between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bus drivers and paraprofessionals will be delivering those meals to each bus stop 5 hours later than scheduled morning pick ups. Additional meals will be available for for students who do not ride a bus.

In Walton County, five sites will provide grab and go meals in the school's car rider line starting March 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. From March 24 -27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., lunch and next days breakfast will be provided. On Wednesday, March 25, food distribution will also begin via bus transportation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Over 95 bus stops will be put into place throughout the district. Buses will spend 10 minutes at each stop to receive breakfast and lunch at the bus stop instead of visiting school sites.
