Scratch-off ticket worth $1 million sold in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Georgia woman has cashed in a Florida Lottery ticket worth a cool million dollars that was recently purchased in Panama City Beach.

According to a Florida Lottery news release, Kristy Haygood, 38, of Douglasville, Georgia, recently purchased a $20 scratch-off ticket in the $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER game. She bought the ticket at Thomas Drive Gas Station at 804 Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach.

That ticket wound up being worth $1 million. It's one of 30 tickets worth $1 million in the game, which also has six top prizes of $5 million.

Haygood redeemed the winning scratch-off ticket Wednesday at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to take her winnings in a lump sum payment of $745,000.
