NORTHWEST, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It was a day of celebration for hundreds of children in our area.
Wednesday was the last day of school for kids in Walton, Jackson and Calhoun Counties.
Jackson County Superintendent Larry Moore says despite Hurricane Michael, it was a successful year and he's confident all repairs should be done by August.
Meanwhile, Walton County Superintendent Russell Hughes says he wants students to enjoy time with their families but encourages kids to keep reading this summer.
Most importantly, school leaders hope kids get some much-needed rest and will be ready to go next school year.
