Sheriff's officials: Three-year-old victim in apparent domestic violence murder and attempted suicide

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials said an autopsy in connection with the murder of a three-year-old Bluewater Bay area child has been scheduled for Monday.

Investigators said the child was killed Friday at the home he shared with his parents on Rawlins Court.

The child's father, Frederick Franken, 61, then reportedly used the weapon on himself. Officials said he remains in critical condition in the hospital.
Original story: According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, a three-year-old child was killed in an apparent domestic violence-related murder followed by an attempted suicide Friday.

Deputies said they were called to the home on Rawlins Court around 4:30 p.m. Friday after receiving the 911 call.

They said the child's mother had arrived home from work to find her son and her husband, Frederick Franken, 61, on the floor of the home.

The child was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's officials said an autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office.

They said Franken was last listed in critical condition at the hospital.
