Shipwreck Island reopens for guests
Businesses across the country are reopening for the Memorial Day holiday, and in Panama City Beach a summer staple has opened its doors to visitors.
Shipwreck Island opened this week to no record crowds, but many new safety protocols in place. The park has been open for nearly 40 years, and while attendance may be a little down currently, safety is the priority of management at Shipwreck Island.
"We do everything from flipping tubes so that the handles of your inner tube have been flipped into the chlorinated water before you get in," said General Manager Buddy Wilkes. "We have the spacing signs everywhere, six new hand sinks with soap so you can wash your hands with soap and water throughout the day."
