UPDATE: Police identify man killed in Macedonia apartment shooting

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: 4-24-17 1:15 p.m.

Panama City Police Chief Scott Ervin confirmed Monday the identity of the 25-year-old shooting victim.

Ervin said Gerald Smith died from the gunshot wounds. He said the department is still investigating the incident.

UPDATE: 4-22-17 5:15 p.m.

Panama City Police Chief Scott Ervin confirmed the 25-year-old shooting victim died Friday night from his injuries.

Ervin said his team continues to investigate. He said they did develop a person of interest who was found to have a stolen gun.

They ask anyone with information to contact investigators at 850-872-3112.

Panama City police are investigating a shooting at the Macedonia Garden Apartments.

They say the shooting happened around 7 p.m. Friday.

They tell us the victim is a 25 year-old black man. He was shot several times in the torso and went into surgery Friday night.

Police believe it all started as a dispute between the two men. Right now all they can tell us is the suspect is black man.
