Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson says they've received hundreds of calls in just the last few days, from locals complaining about possible violations of the short term rental ban.

But short term and vacation rental property owners say it's not fair that they are being excluded when hotels and motels are still allowed to open up.

Owners WJHG spoke with said just because visitors can't stay in vacation rentals... Doesn't mean they won't find another place to stay.

Adkinson says they are investigating about 15 rentals for possible violations right now.

"Our local businesses are suffering right now, and they're hurting, yet they're doing the right thing and obeying the law, and then we have owners from all across the country who say, you know what, we don't care, we're going to make money," said Adkinson.
