Skylar Clayton is the 850Strong Student of the Week

This week's 850Strong Student of the Week is Skylar Clayton.

Skylar is a cheerleader at Port Saint Joe High School, she said "I'm in love with cheer, I eat, sleep, breath cheer. I always do it 7 days a week."

Between cheer and tumbling practice, the freshman still finds time to help out her local Humane Society.

Skylar explained "I try to go to the Humane Society as often as I can, and I love playing with the animals, I love animals, and give them food and blankets that we don't use anymore, stuffed animals so they have something to play with."

She also hit the ground running to help out after Hurricane Michael.

Skylar said "As soon as it ended I got out and I was cleaning yards, and cleaning houses and just doing everything that I could. I helped give out food to elders who couldn't get to the stops to get food."

She shows what it means to be 850 strong, and what it means to be a good neighbor.

Skylar said "I saw how, my house didn't have as much damage as everybody else's and it made me so devastated that some of the best people in the community had some of the worst damage and it wasn't fair that I got out, I guess easier you would say and not have any damage to pick up but everybody else did, so it was my way of helping those who needed it more than I did."

Skylar wants to pursue business and continue to help out her community after she graduates.
