"To keep the money here, in our state and locally," said Panama City Resident Matisha Block.

Locals said they are excited to support their neighbors' businesses.

"Honestly I just think there's too many big stores and corporations and stuff, it's important to support the little guy," said Panama City resident Penny Holloway.

And business owners said they are thankful for the support, especially when tourism is slow.

"It gets slow about this time of the year, so we look forward to getting all the tourists and people coming around and looking at stuff and keeping us prosperous," said local business owner Kenneth Lubinski.

Business owners want to support other local shops as well.

"It does a good job with everyone. Comradery, and since the hurricane, you'll notice there's such a friendship between all the vendors," said Judy Ruediger, owner of Lil Miss Daisy's Jams & Jellies.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis said small businesses employ about 3 million people in the state.
