Sneads High School placed on lockdown after nearby man found with assault rifle

SNEADS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Sneads High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after reports of a man in the area carrying an assault rifle.

According to Sneads Police, 19-year-old Michael Bernard Bailey was walking in the area carrying his friend's AR-15 style assault rifle. Bailey reportedly hid the rifle in a bus owned by farm workers.

Sneads Police recovered a "DTI" AR-15 assault rifle.

Bailey was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of open carrying of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Bailey never made it onto Sneads High School grounds and no students or faculty members were injured during this incident.
