Snook season kicks off this upcoming weekend in waters near our area.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioners say the recreational harvest season for snook opens March 1st in some Gulf waters, including Escambia through Hernando Counties.

Snook will be catch and release only in state waters from the Hernando/Pasco County line south through Gordon Pass in Collier County through May 31st. The prolonged red tide from 2017 to early 2019 impacted the area. Since snook has a May 1st through August 31st annual season closure, this species would reopen September 1st.
