SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Some cable and telephone poles in Springfield have been left hanging.
According to Springfield Mayor Ralph Hammond, city officials were told Springfield Fibercast no longer exists. That company put up miles of cable and telephone lines throughout the city.
Mayor Hammond says the city isn't equipped financially to remove all the damaged lines and poles and they're having trouble contracting out the work as well.
Mayor Hammond said, "Nobody can touch it. Comcast won't touch it, Gulf Power, none of the other networks because FCC forbids it. You can't tamper with anyone else's cable or telephone lines."
He went on to say they're working with the Federal Communications Commission to try and remove the damaged poles.
