WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The South Walton Fire District is hiring.
The South Walton Fire District is looking for lifeguards for the upcoming spring and summer. (WJHG/WECP)
Lifeguards are needed both full and part-time to monitor the public beach access areas in South Walton.
Pay starts at $14.50 per hour, including during training.
Beach safety director, David Vaughn, says they need about 20 more lifeguards, especially with spring break right around the corner.
"Anybody who wants to do this can do this job, and it's one of the greatest jobs, it's really mystifying to me that you can get paid to work out on the beaches, and meet people from all over the world and it’s the most beautiful office in the world and you get to help people and make a difference," said Vaughn.
Vaughn also says swimming tryouts are on-going, and you don't need to pass the test on the first try.
