South Walton TDC continues to solve parking issues along 30A

SOUTH WALTON, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Finding parking along 30A in South Walton is now getting a little easier.

This summer, the Walton County Tourist Development Council has been working on projects along the county road.

"This is an issue we want to face head on and make sure we have as many parking spaces available for people as we can make. It just helps with the congestion in South Walton," said David Demarest with the Walton County TDC.

From right-of-way parking parallel to the road to parking lots throughout the community, officials are finding solutions to provide more parking for its locals and visitors.

"The construction that is currently underway and being finalized right now are right-of -ay parking, like what you see that we've completed in Grayton Beach," said Demarest.

Demarest said so far they have added roughly 200 right-of-way parking spots, in addition to the new regional beach access parking, as well as another 180 spots in Grayton Beach.

"This will be an ongoing task for us as we buy these new regional beach accesses. Those will add new parking spaces, too. So this is something we are going to keep working on as long as the need is there," Demarest added.
