Juvenile arrested and charged in string of thefts; more arrests expected

GREENWOOD, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -- A juvenile has been arrested and charged in connection with numerous thefts of four-wheelers and a dirt bike in Jackson County.

Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday an investigator was in the Greenwood area looking for a stolen dirt bike when he spotted it on Oscar Road. We're told the driver fled, but after a short pursuit, deputies say they were able to arrest the 15-year-old boy who was driving the motorcycle.

Officials say the teen, who was already on some type of juvenile supervision, was taken into custody and charged with three separate counts of Grand Theft and one count of Fleeing and Attempting to Elude.

JCSO deputies say the teen was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Panama City. More arrests are expected. Anyone with information on these theft cases is urged to call Chipola Crimestoppers at (850) 526-5000.
