UPDATE: Suspect wanted in connection with officer-involved shooting caught

According to the Mexico Beach Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop early Friday morning on Highway 98, near Sea Street.

The officer noticed the driver was using narcotics and requested that the driver step out of the car. An altercation then occurred when the officer used a taser, but it had no effect on the suspect.

A second altercation then occurred where the suspect hit the officer. The officer fired multiple rounds at the suspect before the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect has been identified as Charles Llamar Goodin and his last known address is in Wewahitchka. This is an active investigation and since it was an officer-involved shooting, the FDLE will take over the investigation.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are still looking for Goodin. We'll update you with more as we get information.
