Good Friday morning everyone!
It's a quiet start over the Panhandle with mainly clear skies this morning. We'll get a nice mix of sun and clouds throughout the day today with a little more sunshine expected for the coast. A slightly better chance for a few afternoon storms will be found inland in the afternoon.
Otherwise, it's a mild morning and a muggy one with temperatures in the upper 60s for most out the door. Highs today will be quite warm once again with most on the coast in the low to mid 80s to upper 80s inland. Just like yesterday, we could see a heat index approaching the low 90s in many spots away from the coast this afternoon. So be sure to drink plenty of water and take some breaks in the heat this afternoon!
The heat and humidity will create a few scattered storms this afternoon as the sea breeze pushes inland and moves any storms that develop away from the coast today. Anything that pops up inland this afternoon will diminish heading into the evening.
Showers and thunderstorms to our west over Louisiana and Mississippi today are associated with a cold frontal system that's slowly moving through the Southeast. We won't see this front move in until Mother's Day Sunday with scattered storms likely, especially in the afternoon. There's a chance we could have some strong to severe storms in the afternoon capable of producing gusty winds and hail. Until then, think about planning your outdoor adventures with mom on Saturday, as well only have a small chance of a pop up storm in the mid to late afternoon, away from the coast.
For today, mostly sunny skies for the coast turning partly cloudy inland with a few scattered storms this afternoon. Your 7 Day Forecast keeps this summery pattern going through Saturday with a better chance of widespread afternoon storms on Mother's Day.
