Paul Richardson from Tom P. Haney Technical School is the teacher of the year.
Deneika Roulhac from Rosenwald School is the support employee of the year.
Both of them were honored for their work Saturday morning at Bay District Schools' employee recognition awards ceremony.
NewsChannel 7's Jessica Foster served as emcee for the event.
Richardson said he's glad people are starting to recognize the importance of technical education.
"It's very surprising, it's the first time a technical school in Bay County has won teacher of the year," said Richardson.
Roulhac said winning support employee of the year is special because she gets to represent Rosenwald and Bay District Schools.
"Emotional, excited, overwhelmed, but definitely up for the experience," said Roulhac.
Both educators will now be entered into the teacher of the year and support employee of the year competition for the entire state.
