BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The 10th annual Christmas Tree Lighting is Thursday at the Bay County Government Center.
One of the two trees used for the event didn't survive Hurricane Michael, but the show will still go on.
There is even a surprise twist to the festivities this year.
Valerie Sale, the Bay County Public Information Officer, said, "We are doing a toy drive. So we're going to be giving away toys to kids, anybody who needs a toy. Everybody's had a really rough go of it here for the last six or seven weeks, so we just wanted to do something special."
Toy donations can be dropped at the Bay County Government Center or Bay County Fire Stations. The toys must be new and unwrapped.
